Terms of use
These terms govern the use of Invest Matching. By creating an account, you accept them. They are written to be read: if anything is unclear, write to us before you commit.
1. Who publishes Invest Matching
Invest Matching is published by GJO&PARTNERS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under number 17319883, whose registered office is at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom.
The service is available at investmatching.gjoandpartners.com. Any question about these terms goes to contact@gjoandpartners.com.
2. What the service does, and what it does not do
Invest Matching is a publishing and communication tool. It keeps a directory of funds and investment vehicles active in Africa, lets a company publish a file as an anonymous teaser, mechanically compares that file with each directory profile's criteria, and passes an investor's contact request on to the company concerned.
The directory is compiled from each fund's public information (website, reports, press releases). An unclaimed profile reflects that information as at the date it was collected, with no guarantee of accuracy or currency, and does not bind the fund it describes. A fund may claim its profile to keep its criteria up to date itself, or ask for it to be corrected or removed at contact@gjoandpartners.com. Only an investor account claimed or created by the investor itself has access to published files.
The service neither selects nor recommends any file or investor. The filter applies each profile's criteria (sector, country, ticket, instrument), with no human intervention and no assessment of the quality of an opportunity. A file's completeness score measures whether the information investors generally ask for is present; it is shown only to the company and is not an evaluation.
The service provides no investment advice, takes no part in any negotiation, holds no funds on behalf of third parties and receives no remuneration linked to a transaction concluded between its users. Exchanges between a company and an investor, or between investors, take place directly between them, outside the platform, under their sole responsibility.
GJO&PARTNERS LTD is not authorised or regulated by the United Kingdom's Financial Conduct Authority or by any other financial supervisory authority. Information published on the service is published by companies and investors themselves; it is neither an offer, nor an invitation to invest, nor a financial promotion issued by the publisher. The service is not directed at persons located in the United Kingdom, other than investment professionals and high net worth companies within the meaning of articles 19 and 49 of the Financial Promotion Order 2005 (funds, asset managers, financial institutions, investment companies).
The GJO & Partners firm separately offers advisory engagements to companies (structuring the file, preparing for investment committees). These engagements are governed by a separate contract, billed on fixed fees, and never depend on a transaction being concluded.
3. Accounts and profiles
Opening an account requires a valid email address, a password of at least eight characters and a choice of profile: company seeking funding, or investor. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for anything done from your account.
An investor account is open to funds and asset managers, development finance institutions, banks and financial institutions, family offices, investment companies and business angels. Before accessing published files, you declare your type of organisation and its country, and you certify that you act in a professional capacity, that you have the experience needed to analyse an opportunity on your own and, if you are located in the United Kingdom, that you qualify as an investment professional or a high net worth company within the meaning of articles 19 and 49 of the Financial Promotion Order 2005. This declaration is recorded with its date; you are responsible for its accuracy, and an account that has not made it has access to no file.
Before publication in the directory or the filter, an investor profile or a company file goes through a completeness and authenticity check: the required fields are filled in and the account genuinely represents the organisation it claims. This check does not cover the quality of the opportunity and does not commit the publisher as to the accuracy of the information published.
A company may declare five credibility signals on its file, shown as badges on its updates and teaser: incorporated company, revenue, client contracts, employees, profitability. These badges are the company's own declarations, under its sole responsibility; for each one, the company chooses whether the associated figure or names are shown. Only the "incorporated" badge is verified by the publisher, who consults the registry of the declared country using the registration number provided; that number is never shown to other users. The "verified" mention attests to the existence of the registration at the date of verification, and to nothing else.
4. Contact requests, comments and direct contact
An investor may request contact on a published file. The request passes the investor's name, organisation and email address on to the company. The company alone decides whether to reply; the service does not follow up, negotiate or monitor exchanges.
Investors who requested contact on the same file can see each other and talk directly. The service puts no round together, coordinates no syndication and is party to no agreement that may result.
An investor may post a co-investment notice. It is published as written, after a completeness check, and investors who flag themselves on it contact the author directly.
A company chooses, for each update, whether it is public (visible to any visitor, including signed-out ones) or restricted to registered members, and may change that choice at any time; a default setting is offered on its file. A certified investor or another registered company may comment on an update, and its author may reply. Each comment carries its author's profile type (investor, company, platform): an investor appears under the name of their organisation, a company under its username. Comments are published as written, without prior review; they are visible to the same people as the update they relate to. The company may delete any comment posted under its updates, and everyone may delete their own.
A company may, if it so chooses, show certified investors a direct contact channel: an email address or a WhatsApp number. That choice is made through an explicit box, never ticked by default, and can be withdrawn at any time from the file. The service displays these details; it takes no part in the exchanges that follow, which take place off the platform.
5. Your data and documents
The information and documents you publish remain yours. A company's legal name is never shown publicly: investors only see an anonymous teaser, and the company's identity is revealed only to the investors it chooses to reply to.
An uploaded pitch deck is stored privately and is accessible only through secure, time-limited links. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it to train models.
You can withdraw your file, profile or notice at any time from your account, and request deletion of your account there: what other users can see disappears immediately, and the account and its data are erased thirty days later, during which you can cancel. The privacy policy sets out retention periods.
6. What we expect from you
You undertake to use the service only for lawful activities, to publish only accurate information you are entitled to share, and not to attempt to access data not intended for you.
The accuracy of published information rests with whoever publishes it. An investor who requests contact is deemed to have carried out their own analysis; the publisher is not answerable for the accuracy of a file, the solvency of an investor or the outcome of an exchange.
You do not publish, in an update or a comment, any unlawful, defamatory or misleading content, any confidential information belonging to third parties, or any solicitation unrelated to the purpose of the service. Content that appears to you to breach these rules can be reported to contact@gjoandpartners.com; we remove it if it does.
We may suspend an account, remove a publication or a comment, or withdraw the "verified" mention from a badge in the event of a serious breach of these undertakings, after notifying you unless urgency or the law prevents it.
7. Pricing
Browsing the directory, the initial test, creating an account, publishing a file or a profile, the filter and email notifications are free. If a paid offer is introduced, it will take the form of a subscription independent of any transaction, announced at least thirty days in advance, and will not apply to any existing account without its express agreement.
8. Availability and liability
We take reasonable steps to keep the service available, without guaranteeing uninterrupted availability. Interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates or because of our hosting providers.
As the service is free, our liability under these terms is limited to cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct. We are not liable for indirect losses, nor for the consequences of an investment, funding or sale decision taken following an exchange initiated on the service.
None of these limitations excludes liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
9. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Any substantial change is notified to you by email at least thirty days before it takes effect. If it does not suit you, you may close your account free of charge before that date.
The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory rules applicable in your country of residence.
Before taking any action, write to us at contact@gjoandpartners.com: most disagreements are settled by a conversation.
